Serves: 3–4 people

Ingredients required

500 g mutton kheema (minced mutton)
3 tablespoons oil
2 medium onions, finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 tomatoes, finely chopped or pureed
2 green chillies, finely chopped (optional)
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1½ teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
Salt – to taste
½ cup water (as needed)
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Step-by-step process 

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds (whole spices). Stir it for a minute.
  2. Add 2 finely chopped medium onions and green chillies to the oil and saute until it turns golden brown. 
  3. Next add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell of it disappears.
  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes or you can also opt for tomato puree as per your choice, cook until it softens and the oil gets separated.

  1. Now it is time for us to add the mutton kheema (minced mutton) along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  2. Mix all the ingredients well and let cook for 7-10 minutes on medium heat.
  3. The mutton kheema starts getting tender and softer.
  4. Now add water to the mutton kheema, cover it with a lid and cook on low flame for 20-30 minutes until the kheema turns completely soft and cooked completely.
  5.  Finally, add garam masala and mix well for about 2-3 minutes for a thicker consistency.

  1. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
